About

I’ve been making photographs since I was a wee lad in the 60’s (that’s the 1960’s). I obtained my first 35mm SLR as a teenager, then moved up to my beloved Olympus OM-2n in college. That served me well for many years as my passion for photography would fade and intensify in an unpredictable fashion.

Today I’m using a Nikon dSLR and loving it. Although I find the most enjoyment from photographing nature and travel subjects, I also photograph people or anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. I live in Wichita, Kansas, which probably explains why I get so excited when I get to see mountains or oceans. Whatever skill I have developed is due to all those years of practice, as well as the inspiration I get from the work of all those stunningly talented photographers whose work I see on a daily basis. Thanks to all of you fellow enthusiasts who continually raise the bar.

  2. Wow, You have been photographing so long time. I started about 1954, not so sure. My first camera was a Royer, it was a folding camera. I have photo in my About page. In 70ties I started to photograph again after a pause and taking movies. Now I have been taking Digital photos since 2005.

    Happy shooting!!!

  3. Thank so much for your HDR’s! I haven’t been into the photography scene long yet, but I have noticed that HDR is something that a lot of photographers overlook. I love to do them when I have the chance, and I really enjoy your sky shots! Thanks so much for your awesome work!

  7. It is interesting how you describe milestones in your cameras. Fascinating! It always amazes me how someone can stick to the same hobby or passion for a long time.

  9. Hello Charles

I remembered coming across your blog some months ago and I want to nominate you for ‘The Versatile Blogger Award’, a peer award that will bring a few more readers to your wonderful blog.

I ain’t into the technical stuff about photography but amongst several photography blogs I have come across, I found your work striking to the eye and calming to the nerves!

The award (if you choose to accept it) requires an acceptance speech (post) of sorts from you. Check out the latest post on my blog for the details.

    Cheers!

    Hey Charles!

You are very talented and have a great eye for photography! My name is Ryan and I have been wanting to get prints of different land marks in Wichita to put up in my office and was wondering I could work with you to somehow make that happen! I don’t know any other way to get a hold of you but if you could e-email me that would be great! Thanks!

    • Thanks Ryan. I need to get you over to my main website http://www.cfordphotography.com Click “Browse” at the top of the opening page and you will see lots of galleries of photos….and you can order prints directly from there. I have also emailed this info to the “mutter” gmail address which showed up in the message I got from WordPress…but don’t know for sure if that’s a good email address for you. Again, thanks!
