Don't fret, it's just Charles Ford's photography blog.

Exploration Place HDR

Exploration Place is a science museum along the Arkansas river in Wichita.  Designed by international architect Moshe Safdie, it is one of Wichita’s downtown landmarks.   I’ve shot it at night, at night with fireworks bursting behind it, and in the daytime, but this is my first  HDR attempt.

You should link the description to the others photos if they happen to be on the web!

This is an amazing building and a great photograph. Both the museum and the sky are so dramatic! Your HDR work is really nice, the type I would like to emulate. It’s creative yet subtle, I like that. Maybe if I got some software it would help.

The comment from Mickey is actually from me. I used her PC this morning just before going to work. I did want to ask if you use Photomatix on this and if you recommend it.

  4. Yes this is another product of Photomatix (and Lightroom). I haven’t done any exhaustive research lately, but the most recent reading I did indicated Photomatix is still the top of the heap for HDR and I do recommend it. I have not tried any of the other HDR software for comparison however.

Back when I was first looking into this, HDRsoft (the makers of Photomatix) allowed you to download a trial version to play around with. It stamps your resulting HDR images with the word “Photomatix” all over it, but you can get a feel for the thing before you shell out the money.
